Jesus the Passive Teacher

FALSE STATEMENT

Jesus was passive.

OUR DEFENSE

Jesus, the son of God, who existed before the creation of the earth, made a conscious decision to come down to earth as a man to save sinners from God’s eternal punishment of Hell. ( John 3:17, Matthew 1:21, John 3:36)

Jesus was NOT passive.

Jesus purposely entered into the wilderness and fasted for 40 days to be tempted by Satan himself. Despite the physical distress of one who has fasted for 40 days, Jesus was victorious. ( Luke 4:1-13)

Jesus was NOT passive.

Jesus handpicked His disciples including Judas Iscariot, knowing before hand that Judas was going to betray Him which would ultimately lead to His cruel death. (John 13:2, John 13:11, John 13:21-26)

Jesus was NOT passive.

Jesus was commonly chased out of cities and threatened with death for declaring the Truth of God. Jesus, in His divine Godly nature knew before hand this would happen. Yet in an effort to declare the Truth to everyone He made a conscious decision to do this.(Luke 4:28-29)

Jesus was NOT passive.

Jesus, after discovering God’s temple in Jerusalem was being defiled, made a scourge of small cords and drove out the offenders. He poured out the changers’ money and overthrew the tables. (John 2:13-16)

Jesus was NOT passive.

Jesus, the savior of our fallen world, willfully surrendered Himself to the Roman soldiers who came to capture Him due to Judas Iscariot’s betrayal over money.
(Matthew 26:47-53)

Jesus was NOT passive.

Jesus, the one who loved us enough to die for us, was tortured horrifically, more than any man on earth. We do not know how many lashes Jesus received before being crucified. Jewish law states 39 lashes however Jesus was sentenced by the Romans, who had no limitation on how many lashes could be given. The method, would have been the most painful, commonly believed to be the Roman Flagellum. This device consisted of 3 ropes tied to a wooden handle. The ropes had pieces of bone from a lamb’s pelvis woven into them. It is known that the Romans would also add metal hooks to the end of the lashes with the sole purpose of ripping out flesh. Jesus, willingly took this punishment while being the only person in all of creation to be sinless and perfect. Completely underserving of this punishment. (Deuteronomy 25:1-3, Mark 10:32-34, Matthew 27:26)

Jesus was NOT passive.

Jesus allowed Himself to be crucified. Nailed to a wooden cross when He could have commanded an army of angels to wipe out the entire earth. Instead, He stayed on the cross. Not only did He stay on the cross, He pleaded with God almighty to forgive us for murdering Him. (Luke 23:34)

Jesus was NOT passive.

Jesus, gave up His life when He was ready. Not even the most cruelest punishment on earth could take His life. (Luke 23:46)

Jesus was NOT passive.

Jesus defeated death. Then rose from the grave 3 days later as He predicted He would. (Mark 10:34, Luke 24:2-7, Revelation 1:18)

Jesus was NOT passive.

Jesus continued on His mission of saving a wicked people from God’s wrath after He defeated death. He delivered further instruction to the Apostles and also converted Paul (Saul), a Christian persecutor, who was on his way to Damascus to question and persecute even more Christians. (Acts 9:1-22)

Jesus was NOT passive.

After a period of about 40 days after His rise from the grave, Jesus ascended into Heaven in front of hundreds of witnesses including the Apostles to prepare a place for His believers. He now sits at the right hand of God. (John 20:18-19, John 20:30, John 21:1, John 21:25, Luke 24:50-51, Mark 16:19)

Jesus was NOT passive.

Christ Jesus, the son of God, willfully gave His life, took the punishment we rightfully deserved to save a lost and wicked people. This was done because God loved us so much and wanted us reunited back with Him for all of eternity. No other religion including Atheism, has the ability to state such an amazing thing was done for them. The God of the Bible, provided a way to save sinners. To save us. To save you and me. To save a people that was lost, whom He loved unconditionally. No other offer is better than this.

Christians do not serve a passive Jesus. He is our Lord, Savior and Conqueror. He is God Almighty!
